Localized DRY ICE Production Machine

Project Overview

Project Overview:
The Localized Dry Ice Production Machine represents a significant domestic engineering milestone in Pakistan: developing an industrial cryogenic hydraulic press to produce solid carbon dioxide (CO₂) dry ice blocks and high-density pellets locally, eliminating dependence on costly European imported machinery.

Engineering & Cryogenic Challenges:
Dry ice production requires injecting liquid CO₂ at high pressure into an expansion chamber where it flashes into CO₂ snow at -78.5°C (-109.3°F). The machine then drives a heavy hydraulic piston at pressures up to 200 bar to compress the snow into dense, uniform blocks before automated ejection.

Key Features & Automation:
• Cryogenic CO₂ Injection Control: Automated high-pressure cryogenic solenoid valves precisely meter liquid CO₂ volume per compression cycle.
• Dual-Cylinder Hydraulic Sequencing: Proportional hydraulic valve control governing main compaction ram and vertical chamber opening cylinders.
• Heavy Industrial Microcontroller Controller: Custom control panel featuring multi-line HMI display, cycle timing adjustments, and pressure transducer feedback.
• Operator Safety & Pressure Relief: Multi-tier safety interlocks including thermal pressure relief valves, emergency chamber venting, and safety light curtains.

Impact & Results:
Successfully manufactured dense industrial dry ice blocks locally with rapid cycle times under 90 seconds per block. Reduced capital machinery acquisition costs for the client by over 65% while providing complete local parts availability and maintenance support in Lahore.
