Automated Weather Station (AWS) Telemetry
Clients: Nestlé Pakistan Ltd. & PARCO Oil Refinery Ltd
Project Overview
Project Overview:
The Automated Weather Station (AWS) R&D and Installation initiative was designed and deployed for multinational industrial giants Nestlé Pakistan Ltd. and PARCO Oil Refinery Ltd. The system provides real-time, autonomous meteorological and environmental intelligence across critical agricultural and refinery installations.
Objectives & Field Conditions:
Both clients required continuous environmental tracking in remote outdoor environments without reliable grid electricity or local Wi-Fi. The stations needed autonomous solar power harvesting, rugged weatherproof enclosures (IP66), and cellular telemetry transmitting to cloud analytics dashboards.
Key Features & Technologies:
• Rugged Multi-Sensor Array: Precision calibrated sensors monitoring wind speed and direction (anemometer), ambient air temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric barometric pressure, solar irradiance, and rainfall accumulation.
• Autonomous Solar Energy Management: Integrated solar PV panel with intelligent MPPT battery charging circuit ensuring uninterrupted 24/7 operation through consecutive days of overcast weather.
• Cellular IoT Telemetry: GSM/GPRS micro-modem sending encrypted telemetry packets at configurable sampling intervals (1 to 15 minutes).
• Cloud Dashboard & SCADA Integration: Real-time web visualization, historical trend graphing, threshold alerts for hazardous wind/heat conditions, and automated daily climate reports.
Impact & Results:
Provided Nestlé with essential micro-climate data for agricultural supply chain optimization and water management. Delivered critical wind speed and atmospheric pressure telemetry for safety compliance and flare-stack monitoring at PARCO Oil Refinery installations.
